The prototype
It started on an Arduino, as a skunkworks project. Dickson had been making data loggers for a century — reliable instruments that recorded temperature and humidity to a chart or a screen. The missing piece was the cloud: a way to see every reading, from everywhere, the moment it happened.
So I wired a logger up to the internet and built the smallest version of that idea that would work.
Built for compliance
The customers who needed this most were the ones who couldn't afford to get it wrong — pharma, medical device, and biotech companies storing product that has to stay in a narrow temperature range, with auditors who want proof it did.
So DicksonOne became more than a dashboard: it collects readings, alerts the right people the instant something drifts out of range, and keeps audit-ready records and reports that stand up to inspection.
At scale
DicksonOne grew from that Arduino into an industry-leading platform, logging billions of data points from tens of thousands of loggers in the field. I started the project in marketing and ended up leading the product that carried the company into recurring software revenue.
