§ 01

The problem

Someone emails you a logo. You're about to put it on a banner, a sign, or the side of a truck — and you have no idea whether it will come out crisp or a blurry mess. Designers can tell at a glance from the file type. Everyone else is guessing.

Is This a Vector? answers the question for them. Drop in a file and it tells you, in plain English, whether it's a true vector that scales to any size or a raster image that will fall apart when you blow it up.

§ 02

The grade

Every file gets a letter grade from A (a clean vector) to F (a raster image), with a plain-English explanation of what that means for printing. It handles the formats real people actually send — SVG, PDF, AI, EPS, PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, and PSD.

It also checks the file's real type from its first bytes, not its extension — so a PNG that somebody renamed logo.eps to look professional still gets caught.

§ 03

Private by default

Your file never leaves your computer. Every check runs in the browser — nothing is uploaded, stored, or logged.

EPS is the one exception, because it's an old format that's hard to read without rendering it. Even then, the private in-browser check runs first; only if you click "Run full check" is the file converted in memory on the server and deleted immediately. Nothing is kept.

§ 04

Under the hood

The whole site is prerendered to real static HTML, so Google and the AI crawlers — which mostly don't run JavaScript — can actually read the guides and answer questions with them. It's a React and TypeScript app that hydrates on top of that static shell.

It runs entirely on Cloudflare: the site and its API are a Worker, and the optional EPS check is a small container running Ghostscript, spun up only when someone asks for it.
