The remit
DicksonOne was only as good as the hardware feeding it. My job was that hardware: define it, design it, and get it out the door — the connected loggers that sit in a freezer or a cleanroom and report back to the platform without anyone thinking about them.
Four radios
No single way of connecting works everywhere. A hospital wants WiFi. A validated manufacturing line wants wired Ethernet it can lock down. A sprawling warehouse or cold-chain route wants the long range and low power of LoRa. A quick spot-check wants Bluetooth and a phone.
So we built for all four. Each radio is really a bet about the customer's environment, power budget, and cost — and offering the right one is often what wins the deal.

The long tail
Eight loggers was the headline, but the real work was the lifecycle: I owned more than 25 products end to end, from the first spec through launch, revisions, and eventual retirement. Hardware is unforgiving that way — you can't patch a board that's already in a thousand freezers, so you get it right before it ships.
